Founding a new startup business that designs and manufacturers pioneer products is life-changing. Entrepreneurs are the bravest people I have ever met. They are the ones that could climb K2 if they had the interest. One step at a time is all I can say. Business owners can not blame anyone but themselves for the speed. We are all doing our best, I really do know that. It is just the way of a startup. Figuring out logistics, iterating development, making sure everything is understood. Learning a little as we go. THe most important thing is to learn from mistakes and get further every day.
Here are some photos of the status of our first products. It is completely assembled and packed. The silicone is the crux. Entrepreneurs of manufactured products need to find the bottle necks. Lean Six Sigma. Improve inefficiencies as fast as possible. For us, the silicone was the crux. There were so many changes to improve it - over a year of development! And finally when we got it, it was so exciting we celebrated by making the silicone color match the GT (except black which has green silicone because I found that black was too hard to see). Here is where the GreenTraveler startup is now:
It must be said that after all this development, our products have become quite good. Hard for a perfectionist like me to even say, but an entrepreneur must be a perfectionist that keeps moving forward. We have made giant steps forward. My GreenTraveler is liquid tight under daily conditions. Better than all other containers I have tested, some that even claim to be airtight and still leak liquid (how is that possible, many air molecules are smaller than water). I couldn't let it go without trying harder. Happy with it actually. Happier than I thought when we kept running into problems. But I keep fighting for the best. Revision 2 will still be even better under our temperature and pressure tests. But V1 is acceptable, even for a perfectionist like me. I am trying and time is a sacrifice for the best.
I wish I could effectively communicate everything I am going through. The heartache, and stress of delays knowing so many preorder customers are waiting, relying on me, trusting me. I want you all to know, I am all in. Still loving the idea of this product more than any out there. Personally this solves my need for food wherever I go. I am not a homebody. In a fire I am grabbing my wife, my guitar, and my computer bag that has a GreenTraveler already attached! ;-)
The freedom of carrying food easily is really life-changing for me. I am a super busy entrepreneur that is still working to pay for the startup of this business. Entrepreneurs have to want it. It has to be all they think about. Possibly nothing will be more rewarding.
Thanks for being on the ride with me. With us. The encouragement and patience with our mistakes and overly optimistic time horizons..... You are not waiting in vain!
